Family Snug

Henley on Thames

This room was positioned in the middle of the house with no windows of it’s own but part of the adjoining kitchen. The client wanted a practical family space during the day but a cosy sanctuary in the evening. Part of the solution was being able to enclose the room using unlined linen curtains. Drawing these in the evening allowed a much warmer atmosphere than the previous set up.

The client already had their large grey sofa but wanted warm colours in the room so we opted for a mixture of textures but a saturated colour palette. Deep plums and terracottas made sure the grey sofa wasn’t the focal point of the room and gave this middling space it’s own identity.
